Willow Glen is a quaint neighborhood of San Jose, California, that is known for its beautiful tree-lined streets, the diverse architecture of its homes and the wonderful specialty shops and independent businesses that line its primary business strip – Lincoln Avenue (between Minnesota and Willow). This historic business district dates back to the 1800s. Indeed, what is now Lincoln Avenue, was renamed from Willow Glen Road shortly after the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln in 1865.
Today, this walkable downtown business district boasts a wonderful lineup of independent shops and a variety of restaurants. The old Garden Theater has been transformed into a modern shopping center with cafés and restaurants on the ground level and offices above. Ample parking is available in the rear and street side tables line the front along Lincoln Avenue.
Just off the strip on Willow Street you’ll find one of the area’s best breakfast spots at Bill’s Café. Or, for those sold on modern franchises, Starbucks and Peet’s Coffee & Tea are at either end of the Avenue.
